Racial Equity
CLS provided expert assistance in a notorious case of racial bias, the wrongful death of Dr. Susan Moore. The black physician livestreamed from her hospital bed that she would die from COVID-19 because she was not getting adequate care as a result of racial bias. CLS’s expertise was dispositive in producing a favorable settlement.
Health Care
CLS preserved one of the country’s biggest, best-regarded training programs for physicians of color who provide care to underserved patient populations, improving equity for future generations of patients and communities.
Technology
Under pressure from the pandemic and a worldwide lockdown, CLS helped a global technology company design and execute strategies for their clients who suddenly need to provide services virtually and cannot afford to lose revenue or customer engagement.
Covid-19
CLS struck a landmark, first-in-the-nation deal with the health insurance industry, establishing a new legal and business model for one of the U.S.’s largest COVID testing providers. The deal enables hundreds of thousands of people to continue to receive fast, reliable, and convenient COVID tests and results.
International
CLS provided expert assistance to the prevailing side in a bad faith dispute between companies from seven different countries who were involved in a large-scale development project that suffered hundreds of millions of dollars in alleged damages.
Health care
CLS represented one of the poorest hospital districts in the country, fighting for financial sustainability against one of the most prominent insurance providers who had demanded decreased reimbursements and terminated the hospital system from its network. CLS resolved the dispute, secured significant increases in reimbursement, and created a national model for improving patient access and outcomes.
International
CLS resolved a seemingly intractable dispute in which the crown-jewel asset of a European multinational company was improperly seized in an Asian country and used by an insurgency to fund violence and banditry against civilians.
